A friend of mine (Andrea Warden) who attends Providence Church is on a mission trip to Kenya. I received a note from her today and wanted to share it with you. Our days have been very busy! The guys have been working hard on random construction projects and we, ladies, have been building relationships with the girls at the Neema Home. Yesterday, we had a special outing to work with a middle-aged married couple from Washington named Jeff & Carla Picicci. They began doing missions work in Kenya a few years ago and the Lord gave them a very clear, great vision to begin what is now called “Rehema Ministries” (rehemaministries.com). They have a home for abandoned babies/children. Last year when they began, they had around 30 kids and have doubled in...
So you think you’re a leader?
How would those under your leadership answer these questions? Does your group support one another, and camaraderie is visible? Does the group feel encouraged to bring up new ideas and take risks? Do they trust senior leadership to tell the truth? Are we strong enough to give up ideas that no longer work? Are you proud of what has been accomplished? Are managers available and approachable? Is there a process for decision making? Are people aware of how decisions are made? Are you in the “weeds” or are you being strategic in your thinking? It’s paying what is necessary to get on “the train.” The train is moving and heading to better places, new...
Hermann Hesse
“We kill at every step, not only in wars, riots, and executions. We kill when we close our eyes to poverty, suffering, and shame. In the same way all disrespect for life, all hard-heartedness, all indifference, all contempt is nothing else than killing. With just a little witty skepticism we can kill a good deal of the future in a young person. Life is waiting everywhere, the future is flowering everywhere, but we only see a small part of it and step on much of it with our feet.” – Hermann Hesse, German poet and novelist.
