Wally and the Beave

Ever been back to the location where you grew up?  Ever been back to a place where you lived for an extended period of time?  I’ve only moved twice in my career, first from Nashville to Virginia, and then from Virginia to PA.  We’ve lived here now for 13 yrs.  My guys went to grammar school and Junior High near Yorktown Virginia during our 12 years there.  Kathy and I recently returned there for a short visit and took the grand tour.  Our old house and yard appears much smaller but still looks to be in fairly good shape.  Some of the original plants, trees, shrubbery remain but could use some pruning.  A couple of our neighbors still live in their same house, refusing to budge from the sleepy neighborhood.  We spent most of our summers less...

Looking for Work?

Develop a strategy to win.  A strategy is what you would rely on to win. It must be unique and compelling. Perform your personal situation analysis.  Consider your gifts.  Most clients I talk with never think about their gifts. Their focus is usually on negative self talk which reflects what they can’t do, aren’t doing, or their victimization.  Consider what new opportunities your situation could bring. Think about starting over and doing something you are most passionate about.  Identify clear, specific, actionable, realistic objectives.  Be clear what exactly a “win” would look like.  What does your competition look like?  Develop a separate strategy for each form of competitive obstacle.  Does your passion align with the current...

Annopolis Maryland

Kathy and I spent the night in a B and B (Gateway House) in Annapolis MD this past weekend.  I’ve never been before but enjoyed the trip tremendously.  Here’s a list of do’s and don’ts.  ( My opinion only) Do eat at the Carol Creek Cafe.  Order the scallops. If you eat at the popular Middleton Tavern, do not order the rockfish on stale lettuce.  Order the coleslaw, skinny fries, and steamed shrimp.  Do not dress up.  Annapolis is very casual. Don’t bring your well bred exotic  dog as everyone else did.  They are uncomfortable in the hot sun and are very thirsty.  They also poop in the street and at roadside cafe’s. Do visit the Naval Academy and do visit the chapel and crypt of John Paul Jones.  And don’t assume...

Obama and Pro-abortion

»Posted by on May 19, 2009 in Life, Politics, Uncategorized | 0 comments

BO was once again in the news for his speech at the Notre Dame graduation in which he called for us to reach “common ground” and “talk with each other” about abortion.   Why?  Does anyone really believe BO is going to compromise on his pro-abortion rights viewpoint? Not on your life.  His objective is to move conservatives to middle ground of compromise.  Does anyone in their right mind believe that his new nominee to the supreme court will try to reach common ground with those who oppose abortion?  This is another chink in the armor of conservative values.  We’re witnessing before our very eyes and ears one of the last bastions of conservative voice (Catholic Church) for the unborn life slowly disintegrate.  Most of the...
