Double Standards
I’m sure it goes on regardless of who wields power in Washington, but I can’t recall more examples of double standards not only within the govt but also in the public. It’s recently been revealed that BO’s Supreme Court nominee Sotomayor maintains membership in an exclusive elite all women’s club (Belizean Grove). We’ve already discussed her racist remarks in which she opined that a Latina female would be capable of making a better decision than a white male. Would a white male be approved for the highest court in the land with a similar membership in an all men’s fraternity and then making racist comments alluding to male superiority? Really. See how this sounds. Try to visualize John McCain saying, “I...
All Aboard!
“Get a ticket on the train” I’m not sure where I first heard it said, (I want to give credit where credit is due) but I’ve often repeated it to my dear bored family (bored by my constant preaching) and to my clients as well (they’re not bored because they pay for my advice believe it or not). But I digress ….the saying is “get a ticket on the train (or bus which ever will help you to make your point the best). The train is life, it’s buying your first home, it’s making a small investment, it might be a lottery ticket (of course I never buy one ;)), it might be taking a chance. It’s paying what is necessary to get on “the train.” The train is moving and heading to better places, new...
Obama and Pro-abortion
BO was once again in the news for his speech at the Notre Dame graduation in which he called for us to reach “common ground” and “talk with each other” about abortion. Why? Does anyone really believe BO is going to compromise on his pro-abortion rights viewpoint? Not on your life. His objective is to move conservatives to middle ground of compromise. Does anyone in their right mind believe that his new nominee to the supreme court will try to reach common ground with those who oppose abortion? This is another chink in the armor of conservative values. We’re witnessing before our very eyes and ears one of the last bastions of conservative voice (Catholic Church) for the unborn life slowly disintegrate. Most of the...
Graduation Day!
Graduation day! As most of you know my younger son graduated from law school this past Saturday. Besides the customary platitudes, thank you’s to parents and faculty it was an exciting day (never mind that the valedictorian in her speech, attributed a passage in the Bible, “to whom much is given, much is required”, to, get this JFK! Dumb Dumb. Liberals will stop at no expense to worship fellow dems even if it means stealing from the Holy Bible. It was Clint’s day and I was the typical proud father of his accomplishments. Opportunity lies ahead. What he will do with his degree is now up to him. It’s cost me an arm and a leg, but so be it. Aside from the typical sentimental breakdown that I usually display at these...
Mid Life Crisis II
When my two boys left home for college the first time ( about 8 yrs ago) I was 48 yrs old. My life was moving too rapidly for me. Where had time gone? What had I accomplished? Would I live another 30 yrs? Where would I go from here? It included all of those life and death weighty questions that more and more men are becoming aware of and are now just beginning to articulate with a little more clarity (in their own heads if not out loud). In the past, it wasn’t really acceptable (read masculine) for men to admit their fear of mortality or their dread of aging and the bodily function failures that so often occur. Hey I admit it, I’m scared. So instead of admitting and discussing these apprehensive notions, we just put on gold chains,...
We’ve Been Had
I can’t predict the date or the time but at some point the honeymoon will be over. And when it’s over, this charade is going to come crashing down. Right now BO enjoys all the adulation of a pop star. Even though some people don’t like all of his policies, even those surveyed say they like “the man.” He has a way about him that is captivating and mesmerizing. But I am not alone in my observations. Debra Burlingame is the sister of the pilot who was flying American Airlines flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon 9/11. Given all the developments since our meeting with the president, it is now evident that his words to us bore no relation to his intended actions on national security policy and detainee issues. But the...
