The POTUS Is Not Leading in the Cause of Freedom
BO promised to transform America’s image in the world. Well he certainly is. Even the sissy French government has spoken out with more disdain condemning the attack on human rights in Iran than the “leader of the free world.” America has always stood with those for freedom and liberty. I’m not suggesting we start bombing Iran but I believe BO is blowing a great opportunity to use his influence to reorder the middle east. Why not start with calling for a special summit of middle east leaders to jointly condemn the phony elections and honor the people’s choice? This is a clear example of why a theocracy in the seat of government does not work. Remaining silent is not demonstrating neutrality; it is casting a vote for the status quo, including the primacy of the supreme mullahs and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. It is time for Obama and Congress to speak loud and clear in defense of freedom.
The Need for Strong Fathers
Despite the MSM’s attempt to “dumb” down the role of men in society by sarcasm and “put-downs” whether it’s in TV commercials, sit-coms, or news stories, which tries to belittle men and their significance, strong fathers are needed even more than ever. Fathers need to lead and be engaged with the family. Bradford Wilcox is professor of Sociology at University of Virginia has written a great article which documents the facts as opposed to myths about today’s fathers. When dads are engaged, teen depression and delinquency is decreased. Affectionate fathers are critical to steering daughters away from early sexual activity. Dare I say (the evidence says) dads are even more critical to preventing early sexual activity by daughters than mothers.
So, Hurray for Dads everywhere. Hurray for potential Dads everywhere. Let’s celebrate our God given gifts to lead, protect, provide for our family.
Speechless–add this one to your “I’m not making this up” file
I’m not sure which point to make on this one since it seems to have endless possibilities for critique and analysis. I guess I’ll start with my first impression when I heard the “news,” BO has swatted and killed a fly. “Got the sucker” he gleefully brags. This was the leading news for several web sites and even made it on the state run NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. Who else but the government run news sites would report such a meaningless event and actually call it news? After all, the MSM (for first timers this is main stream media), nightly news shows have only about 18 minutes (30 if you count the shamless capitalist commercials) to promote their ideas and call it news. You’d think they would come up with better use of their precious air time than to waste it on reporting that BO had killed a fly. Ok, that’s my first point. The second really makes the title of this blog entry true. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) picked up on the story and are actually protesting the vicious murder of the fly.
Double Standards
Stopped at the Red Light
Do municipal workers and road engineers ever actually travel the same roads I do? How could they? One of the most annoying irritants on my daily travel to and from work is going through areas with a series of several traffic lights. The lights are never programmed to allow traffic to flow freely through. You know what I mean. You stop at a red light to allow 2 cars to go through, wait for another 2 minutes, the light turns green and you go another 100 yards to find that the traffic light has just turned red which means another time consuming stop. The cycle repeats for the next 5 miles. This is annoying for several reasons. It causes delays, congestion, and ties up traffic. What are the city planners thinking about? Not the drivers.
All Aboard!
“Get a ticket on the train”
I’m not sure where I first heard it said, (I want to give credit where credit is due) but I’ve often repeated it to my dear bored family (bored by my constant preaching) and to my clients as well (they’re not bored because they pay for my advice believe it or not). But I digress ….the saying is “get a ticket on the train (or bus which ever will help you to make your point the best). The train is life, it’s buying your first home, it’s making a small investment, it might be a lottery ticket (of course I never buy one ;)), it might be taking a chance. It’s paying what is necessary to get on “the train.” The train is moving and heading to better places, new travels, great adventures. But YOU MUST BUY A TICKET and hop on board. If you don’t, you for sure will never get there. Found this today and I don’t know who the author is but it’s a great read.
The Sick MSM (Main Stream Media)
Whether it’s Katie Couric’s face front and center with tears streaming down her rosy cheeks after learning that she is dead last in Nielson ratings, or the fawning reporter’s continuing love affair with BO (Barak Obama for first timers); the MSM is continuing to lose any remaining credibility. I consider the MSM to be the nightly news, (ABC, CBS, NBC), most daily newspapers, and websites belonging to said networks. Most of you know I’m a news junkie and often surf MSM sites as well as other sites (Drudgereport.com, Foxnews.com theamericanthinker.com, etc). Today during one of my surfing expeditions, it occurred to me that the MSM (eg. ABCnews.com) touts perverted and sick stories disguised as news. Most MSM stresses and highlights news which caters to our society’s sensuous appetite. At 4pm today, here were the main headlines at ABCnews.com.
“Pregnant man gives birth to baby boy” with a joyous Barbara Walters near tears devoutly looking on with approval,
“Carradine death due to erotic asphyxiation,”
“Adam “guy liner” (my insert) Lambert is gay”
“Britney Spears bears all,”
“Gosselins (Reality TV family in case you’re not up to speed with reality shows) mistreats family pups.
Wally and the Beave
Ever been back to the location where you grew up? Ever been back to a place where you lived for an extended period of time? I’ve only moved twice in my career, first from Nashville to Virginia, and then from Virginia to PA. We’ve lived here now for 13 yrs. My guys went to grammar school and Junior High near Yorktown Virginia during our 12 years there. Kathy and I recently returned there for a short visit and took the grand tour.
Looking for Work?
Develop a strategy to win. A strategy is what you would rely on to win. It must be unique and compelling. Perform your personal situation analysis. Consider your gifts. Most clients I talk with never think about their gifts. Their focus is usually on negative self talk which reflects what they can’t do, aren’t doing, or their victimization. Consider what new opportunities your situation could bring. Think about starting over and doing something you are most passionate about. Identify clear, specific, actionable, realistic objectives. Be clear what exactly a “win” would look like.
Notes from an ex Fetus
Don’t mean to be too serious here, but ran across an article that I thought really put a different perspective on the controversial subject.
