Must check this out.  Rush is a Nazi

Funny, but it’s not surprising that these are the people who elected our first Muslim President.

I’m on Drugs….Again

Given the vital role of medical products companies and the magnitude of their challenges, one might imagine that this industry would be admired. To some extent, it is. Leading research organizations such as the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s disease proactively build bridges with industry leaders, solicit advice from industry scientists, and fund projects in industry labs.

But this enlightened view of industry is not widespread. This is largely because of the disproportionate influence of a coterie of prominent critics we have previously dubbed “pharmascolds,” who routinely vilify the medical products industry and portray academics working with it as traitors and sellouts. These critics are pious academics, self-righteous medical journal editors, and opportunistic politicians and journalists. Their condemnation of anyone’s legitimate profit — it’s all “corruption” in their book — has in fact materially enhanced their own careers. They extrapolate from occasional behavioral lapses in industry — which is equally, if not more prevalent, in universities — to demonize the market and portray scientific medicine as an ascetic religion, which it is not.

Unfortunately, the industry that has saved millions of lives and saved trillions of dollars (avoiding surgical interventions and hospital costs) has been very reticent about promoting their achievements.  Like any industry, we’ve made mistakes, but overall I think we could all agree that we live better, more healthy, pain free lives because of the progress made in pharmaceutical milestones.

I’m not making this up…..

Just to demonstrate the extent of the government (AKA “big brother”) at work in our public school system, I was having lunch the other day with a friend living in the Philadelphia suburbs who has a seven year old boy. He recently had a birthday celebration and a birthday party. Sounds pretty normal so far.

I was amazed to hear that it is against school regulations to have a birthday party and invite individual classmates (boys in this case) unless every boy in the class is invited. He was given a litany of justifications (impressionable age, feeling left out, we don’t want to hurt feelings bla bla bla) for this overreaching policy. The parents were pressured into inviting the entire classroom of boys.

While I don’t necessarily disagree with the justifications, and on the surface (as most liberal policies do) this sounds reasonable and we all get a warm feeling inside.  I know, I know, this this is no mortal sin.  But I strongly disagree with the public school system telling parents who can and cannot come to my child’s birthday party. I think this energy is misplaced.  Big governnment at work once again. With all the money that flows into the schools today, why don’t they just focus on the math and science which seem to be our nation’s key opportunity for growth and success?  They don’t seem to be able to raise the math and science scores, but at least they can help me plan the party.

The Arrogance of the American People

Posted by on Apr 6, 2009 in Politics | 0 comments

What arrogance these Americans have. Either that, or a very, very — no, stunningly — ignorant man was just elected president — largely because millions of benevolent voters believed that we owe black people a presidency. They may come to see that as their biggest mistake ever.  In the next couple of years they will see a tripling of government debt, high inflation, a permanent loss in their personal wealth, and a major devaluation of the dollar. James Lewis American Thinker

Our popstar President has recently apologized to Europe for our arrogance.  I for one believe in American Exceptionalism.  I believe our country is exceptional and no apology necessary Mr. President.  We provide more assistance, for foreign aid than any country on the face of the earth, yet our socialist President feels it necessary to apologize for American arrogance.  Where would the world be without the American innovation and willingness to fighit for freedom?

Liberty and Tyranny

We all declare for liberty; but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing.  With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor; while with others, the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other men, and the product of other men’s labor.  Here are two, not only different, but incompatible things, called by the same name–liberty.  And it follows that each of the things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatible names–liberty and tyranny.

Abraham Lincoln, 1864

Just finished reading Mark Levin’s Liberty and Tyranny, A Conservative Manifesto. Highly recommend reading and becoming informed.  We must all become more active to protect our freedoms.  If not, government will take them away.

Liberty and Tyranny by Mark Levine

I’ve just started reading this “textbook” which explains conservatism in terms even liberals can understand.

The modern liberal believes in the supremacy of the state…

Levine describes the modern liberal as a “statist.”  Our founding fathers knew that the greatest threat to freedom and liberty is an all powerfull central government.

Keep your eyes open and watch closely what is happening in Washington.  As Washington gains more control, there is a direct correlation with loss of individual freedom.  Obama is a statist and believes that an individual’s imperfection and personal pursuits impede his objective of achieving a utopian state which is  ever mindful of bringing down achievers and redistributing wealth on a global scale.  This will make it “fair” and we can all “feel” good about our attempts to punish the successful.  It’s the evil corporations and CEO’s that have corrupted our society.  Never mind that they create jobs which create wealth and put people to work.  Wake up and see the great deception that is unfolding before our eyes.

The People’s Choice

The man who is now president, Barack Obama, is precisely the man whose spiritual mentor for 2 decades, Jeremiah Wright, denounced “white folks greed” running  “a world in need.”  Barack Obama is precisely the man whose political mentor, Saul Alinsky, advised the use of any and all means necessary to take power in America, and to clothe his deceit in “moral garments.” Barack Obama is precisely the man whose most influential and moneyed backer was George Soros, the Fabian socialist whose financial schemes have garnered great wealth for him while leaving whole economies in shambles, the way ours is now.

ummm,  how could we have done this? Delusion?  Deception?  A higher plan?

Update on 3/27 Post–Are you on Drugs?

If you try to beat up on the drug companies, there will be no winners, only losers.  On 3/30 I found this article which pretty much sums it up.  As drug companies prosper, more dollars are used for research and development of new life saving medications.  If you’re using generic drugs, you may save some money in the short term but what future are you leaving for your children and grandchildren?  For more context see my 3/27 post.

Patient’s Privacy is a Joke — HIPPA

Been in the hospital lately?  Well I have and it’s no picnic and Doctor House was no where to be found.  I’m convinced they tried to kill me several times by puncture wounds, IV’s that ran out, IV’s that infiltrated my arm, and lab technicians trying to stab me without realizing their partner in crime had just left the room with what seemed to be a pint of my precious life’s flow.  On my first day, the cheery nurse wearing what appeared to be a jogging suit (in case you don’t remember in ancient times they appeared in starched white uniforms and caps) gave me my sleeping pill at 8am.  Then at night when I couldn’t sleep because the patient in the next room had died and the family was screaming in the halls, I asked for a sleeping pill and you’d think I had asked for heroin.  Have you ever tried to sleep in the hospital at night?  Forget about it.  The halls are a-buzz 24/7.

But aside from the comedic attempt to snuff my young life out at age 56, what I discovered is that a patient has little or no privacy.

Brief Update on Michele Bachman

My blog post dated 3/26 (Meet Michelle Bachman) apparently was somewhat prophetic.  I stated that you’ll be hearing a lot more about her and the following article showed up the next day.  More about Michele.
