Many of you have had the chance to meet our cat Cypress at some point if you’ve visited our family. I’m sad to report that she has gone on the be with the Lord. I won’t go into the details because they’re sketchy yet, but it was sudden. So this is a memorial to Cypress the Cat who brought us much love and laughter.
Pets are funny things you know. They become part of the family in many ways. We often get so attached and focused on them that I’ve often wondered (even on this blog) if we turn to our pets to avoid dealing with real life issues. Dogs and cats never reject, scold, judge, or criticize you like people do. They seem to always be there when you need them (mostly when they’re hungry) and accept you for who and what you are. This is of course unless it’s the neighbor’s dog who never seems to recognize you and barks incessantly.
But this unhealthy reliance on household pets for love and attention is probably the exception rather than the rule. I’m sure most people do just fine balancing their life and affections.
Cypress was intelligent, really beautiful, and a pal. She’ll be missed. Especially the part when she would roll over on her back completely disoriented with all fours up in the air. Oh well.
Yea, I was attached.
